Our doulas love supporting Kansas City families in their homes, hospitals, and birth centers to provide support tailored to you.

Bereavement Support

Every birth is a birth, regardless of outcome. Our doulas are trained in bereavement support and will continue to support your family in cases of loss.

New Baby Postpartum Doula Services

Our doulas will come to your home to help care for your family while you transition to life with your little one.

Lactation and Infant Feeding Services

Our lactation consultants are knowledgeable about all stages and methods of feeding. Get in-home counseling to help you in achieving your feeding goals.

Birth it Forward Academy

Hands-on learning and mentorship for aspiring doulas!

10 Popups annually in locations around the metro that provides mother, infant and children’s items to people who need them, for Free!

Our Service Area

Birth it Forward will serve any client within a 30 mile radius of the Kansas City, MO city center. Some of our doulas chose to serve additional areas outside of this radius. If you live outside of our general service area you can submit our Getting Started form and we will see if any of our doulas cover your area.

Your Fee Helps Provide Support For Families

At Birth It Forward we believe every family deserves evidence-based support and education through pregnancy, childbirth, and during the transition into parenthood.  Every client who purchases our services through Birth It Forward helps to fund our non-profit work, bringing low and no-cost services to families in the Kansas City metropolitan area. We look forward to partnering with you to provide support, education, and care for Kansas City!

High Quality, Evidence-based Support

When you work with a Birth It Forward doula, you’re supported by a team who cares about you and your family. Our birth doulas, lactation consultants, and postpartum team stay connected so your care feels seamless from pregnancy through the early weeks with your baby.

During pregnancy, you’ll meet with your birth doula team to ask questions, prepare for birth, and create a plan that fits your family’s needs and goals. If breastfeeding is part of your journey, you can also meet one-on-one with a lactation consultant before your baby arrives to ensure that you feel confident and prepared.

Everyone stays in communication—your doulas and lactation consultant work together to support your feeding goals and overall care. After birth, your postpartum doula continues that support and open dialogue, whether or not they were part of your birth team.

This connected care even shows up in small moments—like a doula at one of our Mother’s Closet events setting aside a resource she knows will help you and showing you how to use it.
