Calling all birth workers! Birth it Forward welcomes practicing doulas to come work with us. You can join as a volunteer or contractor working with our clients. Our doulas regularly work with clients from vulnerable populations, as such we need all doulas working with us to go through a period of assessment where we can observe how you practice and if it aligns with our standards and the needs of our clients.

Birth it Forward requires a one time sign-on fee of $105 to cover your background check and a BIF t-shirt. Fill out our Join Our Team Form to get started!

How to Become a Birth it Forward Doula

1. Fill out our intake form or express interest to one of our Directors.
2. Submit proof of doula training.
3. Complete online orientation.
4. Attend in-person orientation
5. Sign contract and join Google Chats
6. Pay $105 onboarding fee.
7. Submit Background Check

Our Birth Doula Requirements

1. Proof of birth doula training completion (NOT certification, training)
2. Graduate from Birth it Forward Academy or complete the following:
   • Attendance at Standing Strong within the first year of Birth it Forward membership
   • Achieve a passing score on entrance exam.
   • Must attend and receive a positive evaluation of performance at a qualifying birth with an Advanced or Instructor Doula
   • Attendance at MOCSA training before caring for domestic violence clients

Attend our semi-annual Birth it Forward Conference and complete both your Standing Strong and MOCSA training as well as network with your fellow doulas. Birth it Forward Conference tickets are free for active members and available for purchase by any doula in the community.

Our Postpartum Doula Requirements

1. Completion of Online Orientation
2. Completion of In-Person Orientation with demonstration of Competency
